Friends of the Arts
Friend of the Arts Award Renamed to honor the lives and legacies of Howard B. Fedrick and Mary Anne Fedrick
The Friend of the Arts Award was initiated in 1997 by Howard B. Fedrick, then president of the Fine Arts Fiesta Board. With Howard's passing while serving in 2011, the board voted to rename the award the Howard B. Fedrick Friend of The Arts Award. Mary Anne Fedrick assumed sponsorship of the newly renamed Howard B Fedrick Friend of The Arts Award. Upon Mary Anne's untimely death in November 2024 while serving on the board, the award was renamed the Howard B. and Mary Anne Fedrick Friend Of The Arts Award by the Fiesta Board of Directors. The award is now sponsored by the Merkel Family and Estate of Mary Anne Federick.
The Howard B. and Mary Anne Fedrick “Friend of the Arts” Award is designed to honor an individual or organization for their longstanding commitment and/or generous support of the Fine Arts Fiesta in addition to their general contributions to the cultural and artistic life of the local and regional community.
