Fine Arts Fiesta Poster Contest Winners
The Fine Arts Fiesta is pleased to announce the winners of this year's Fiesta 2008, "Drawing Us Together," Poster Contest. Co-chairpersons, Debbie Grossman and Roz Smulowitz, note this year’s contest had over 125 entries from students grades 3 through 12. Local art teachers deserve credit for encouraging their students to enter the contest.
Mr. Ken Marquis, owner of Marquis Art and Frame, Wilkes-Barre,sponsored prizes for the three highest awards for this year’s contest: first place $100; second place $50: and third place $25. Four honorable mention awards will be provided by the Fine Arts Fiesta. Ms. Mary Ann Yonki, director for Luzerne County’s public libraries, coordinated the collection of all poster entries for this year’s contest through the Osterhout Public Library. Each year the Fine Arts Fiesta stages a four-day event celebrating the arts on Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, PA. The 2008 Fine Arts Fiesta will run from May 15 through Ma y 18. The awards ceremony for all the poster contest winners will be held on Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, May 15th, at 6:30 PM.
This year’s contest winners are: first place, Alyssa Farris—12th grade Crestwood High School; second place, Ashley Fedak—12th grade Wyoming Seminary; third place, Leah Leikheim—12th grade GAR High School. Honorable mention winners are: Mia Carlson--8th grade Meyers High School; Amber Messinger--10th grade GAR High School; Jackie Nowakowski--11th grade Wyoming Area; and Trisha Tyson--10th grade GAR High School.
