The Fine Arts Fiesta
"FIESTA@55...ENJOY, ENJOY"
Join us for Fiesta 2011, May 19, 20, 21, 22, 2011!
The Fine Arts Fiesta, a celebration of diversity in the performing and visual arts, is the oldest festival of its kind in Pennsylvania. Founded in 1956 by Annette Evans and Alfred Groh as an annual celebration of the arts in the Wyoming Valley area, the first fiesta lasted three days and presented music, dance, drama, sketches and displays.
Today the Fine Arts Fiesta spans four days and includes juried arts shows for students and adults, live performances by area school groups and professional acts, strolling performers, an artist market, and a selection of ethnic foods to please everyone's palate.
FIESTA 2010
The gift of the arts
Like a cherished birthday toy
Is an invitation
To enjoy, enjoy.
Enjoy, enjoy the gift of Fiesta
That brings us together
In celebration of the arts
In wet and sunny weather
Enjoy, enjoy the gift of the arts
That lifts our spirits high
When the clouds drift away
And we see the sky
Enjoy, enjoy the gift of Fiesta
All of us share
With families and friends
At Wilkes-Barre's festive Public Square
---Alfred S. Groh
